Penny's Artist Statement
I have been an Artist since graduating from Alberta College of Art in 1988. I consider myself a community collaborator and multidisciplinary artist from Video production, Web development, to painting in plasticine. I have been involved in community arts, activism and Information and Communication Technology for the rural communities. I have been on multiple boards in relation to the Arts and Community in Calgary - Emmedia and most recently in the Creston Valley including The Creston Arts Council, Chair of RDCK Area B Tourism, Economic Development & Communications Society. I focus my passion and concern for the rural way of life, one area I have been working toward is for communities to work together for sustainability. I have found that my collaborations as an artist parallel some of the same issues of the broadband in rural communities. Working together and organizing groups of people in a cooperative manor is paramount in the success of any community.
